CB750 K3 (USA) Set of Indicators, or other if compatible
« on: March 07, 2023, 11:23:35 AM »
Hi all, my USA spec K3 is missing indicators, and I'm struggling to find a set. I believe they are supposed to have two wires, for both indicators and running lights?
I'm not overly sure how single wire ones would work, any advice on that would be handy too.

IIRC single wire ones work on the basis that the metal fitting is the earth connection.

On 1970's American cars the side marker lights used to be amber at the front but were separate from the indicator.

Legaly you cant have the running lights in UK  anyway. I think the K3 has the big indicators like the goldwing and F2 but it depends on the size of the stem fittings.
Rear ones dont have running lights anyway, only fronts

Cheers for the replies. So it seems the UK style indicators bolts directly to the frame at the rear, instead of the grab handle (which I am also missing). Maybe that will be a better solution, save me getting one of those too.
I suppose i could get one of the generic kits from David Silver, and source the brackets separately.

I'm not sure how they'll wire up at the front, will need to check over things. I did notice I had power going to some of the light blue/orange wires, but i think those must've been running lights.

There are quite a few sellers in the UK who sell the various length stalks with the different diameter rear locating brackets.

It doesn't work that way Ted, the indicators need to be rubber mounted or the bulbs will keep blowing  ;)

IIRC the mounting rubbers are a separate part - I assumed that re-fitting them is a given.

Originaly, i think, the fronts go on stems screwed into the headlight brackets and the rears go on a long stem part of the rear light bracket, that is in UK .
On the front you connect to the solid light blue and solid orange from loom to the 21w bulb, it earths via the bracket, headlamp shell bolts and ground wires on nuts.
Rears same connections and earth via stem and an earth wire.
Dont ask which colour is left or right i can never remember.
For info the running lights at the front connect to the orange with white strip and light blue with white stripe which can be left disconnected where they exit the loom.
If using the US fronts they have a 21/5 twin fillament bulb same as stop tail.
Hope that helps

If you want to go down the early K0/K1 style route, Yamiya sell a full fitting kit that will enable you to bolt on the smaller Stanley type indicators. Single wire setup will be fine - most people deactivate the running lights anway for UK use.:

Cheers all for the input.
I think I can get most parts I need fairly cheaply, its just the rear brackets that seem a bit pricey, ~£70 for a pair (part no. 33607292000B)?  Needless to say, if anyone has a set floating about, i'd love to get my hands on them. Regardless, it seems like that'd be cheaper than having to also get the grab handle, which the K3 would normally come with.

Could have helped you out there Gary http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,29084.30.html but unfortunately the place what did the brackets lost one. Still not turned up. If it does I'll let you know.

I had 6 of these NOS at one time, pretty sure I sold them all though.

You could put a wanted post on the USA forum for a K3 grab rail set up but, the post would be about £45 these days  ;)

If you are not worried about the look, these is some one that has a rear set of CB400 Four indicator mounts that are a little longer than the ones that James put a link to.  ;)
