400 carb slider adjustment question need to check ?
« on: March 27, 2023, 11:55:50 AM »
I'm currently cleaning up my set of spare carbs for my 400 and have found a part I never noticed previously.

There are two solid dowels between the carb pairs  - can't find it in the parts book - anyone know the part number please?

Ted, are you referring to the short peg that the throttle return spring hooks on? If so I don’t think there is a part no?

Its not that part it is a dowel that sits between carbs 1-2 & 3-4 towards the rear of the body - some sort of alignment spacer. One of mine is missing. TBH I don't think the carbs on my 400 have either of them.

If you happen to have one brilliant - thanks Bryan.

Update:- It appears there are plenty of Dowels on flea-bay in SS 10 mm x 6mm reasonably cheap - just plain with no center groove. If I can find an original would be better.

Ted, is it possible to photo this area? I'm rebuilding a set and don't seem to remember seeing them before they were stripped....

quick find,

type in CMSNL CB400F Carb and look at part number 17 which is the spring Matt, I think Ted means the bit that sits at the bottom of it to attatch the spring to, I had nothing else on my carbs when I dod those. Cabt really think of anything else that refers to a small round connector either........

MOrning Phil,

dunno what else it can be, Ted you described it as a barrel of steel 10mm x 6mm with a groove in it, there is only one, I'm sure.
Could we employ the use of a 400 anorak please?......anyone?

Having stripped and rebuilt my 400 carbs last week the only thing I can think of is the spring peg between 2&3. As had been said it is in the parts book diagram but doesn’t have a part number and there’s only one of ‘em. If it’s not that component I’m mystified.

Yes thank you Roo. Up bright and early for my Cardiff gig.
It’s a bit damp over here so the anorak has come in useful.
