LH crankcover Protector 11353-363-000
« on: April 02, 2023, 05:29:50 PM »
Looking for a replacement to the protector inside the LH cover 11353-363-000.

Mine is in sub-optimal condition.

Some available online but expensive so wondering if anyone has a used one I can buy.

That's interesting - not a part I recognise from dismantling my engine - certainly not attached inside my outer casing though it might be elsewhere in a box?

Seen it in the parts book picture for the 500 looks like for the 1975 models onwards on some listings?

Interesting that it's got a 363 middle part number yet it's off the 500/550 and that's mainly a 323 middle part number. Oddly the same part turns up with a 323 middle number.

As Bryan says, they got broken or bent when the chain either snapped or was so loose it rattled around the casing.

Very hard to find in one piece these days, one in the USA for a very large amount. I do have one BUT I'm not sure if I'll be using it on the rebuild yet, if the hydraulic clutch mod works then it will be surplus.

No I didn't - not sure I saw that one.

There are a couple but in the US & Canada but all over £50 inc postage.

Would it be the end of the world if I removed it? Mine is definitely damaged and bent.

I think it has a job to do - protecting the casing so for me that is a yes. Is yours worth some sort of repair perhaps?

My friends K2 one was horribly  bent and in 3 pieces but I straightened it and MIG welded it up for him and it turned out great. ... No.1 axiom for me ... don't replace if you can restore.

You are right, so I searched a bit further, and at www.pietparts.nl there should be one in stock.
I called them and he'll look into it tonight and let me know tomorrow, and he does sending to the UK. His price would come to €42, without postals...So @Juitz, you can also call him yourself, his number is on his site!

I've bought a lot from Peter over the years (Piet) he's a nice guy and very helpful. His website isn't always up to date though so he may not have it in.

Lots of complete covers with the chain protector fitted on ebay. DK have a few and there are others in the £30 range. Here's a good one, but there are many others, make an offer.

That ones been hit by the chain, you can see the marks it's left plus there are bits of the front edge missing. Still useable though.

Thanks - I didn't expect the cover to be cheaper but good shout.

Some of those covers look better than what I have.
