Hello all,
Firstly, thank you to Nurse Julie for alerting me to the UK site after I posted a question on the US site; without the intervention I probably wouldn't have found you!
I've always been a fan of 1970/80s Hondas and always wanted a 400/4 or a CB750; they were the bikes that caught my imagination when I was a teenager in the mid to late 70s; I was just into my 50s when I finally took the plunge with a 1978 CB400F2 in Parakeet yellow.
I SORNd the bike a few years ago after suffering persistant electrical issues, that on closer inspection revealed a whole world of woe, due to too many previously bodged fixes. Too often I was left the side of the road with no electrics, calling my wife to rescue me. I had little choice other than to take the bike off the road for a complete rebuild, with a view to ensuring the bike was good for many more years to come.
The engine was stripped and re-built by George Arnold Motorcycles in Poole and he also sorted out the wheels for me and modified the bike into a single-seat cafe racer stylee, before he handed the bike back to me so I could get to work on the electrics. M-Unit Blue now installed and a whole bunch of Kellerman, Rebelmoto and Daytona electronic parts too, and I'm in the process of wiring and looming it all together, as best I can.
If I can get the 400/4 back on the road I might turn my attention to saving a CB750...but that's just between us, I haven't told Mrs RushDog yet.
Previous bikes include a CBX550F, with the funky pipes and inboard disc brakes and few Superdreams and CXs along the way.
