Posting photos here from Flickr.
« on: April 14, 2023, 10:03:01 AM »
I am no expert with technology but regularly folk seem to have trouble uploading photos.

I was taught the following method via another  blog site. If you want to post a photo from Flickr photo stream you just open the individual photo on the photostream page.

On the bottom right hand of the page you will see a row of icons - click on the forward arrow - on the new page highlight the far right option BBCode. You are then left with a window showing the URL link with a second box underneath where you select the picture size from a drop down menu. Copy & paste the whole URL highlighted link into your reply. If you select preview you will be able to view the photo rather than the URL link.

When you post the reply the photos appear instead of the URL links. No size reduction of the picture is needed. You need the photos to be public on Flickr.

Hope this helps folks - I can only do this on my Laptop or PC - not yet managed it on my phone.

I know the definition of ex-spurt - I am the drip under pressure. You photo is fine but as you have not made it public when you uploaded it I can't zoom in on it. Might be that only works as the account holder so I have posted a photo.

Can someone let me know if clicking on the photo gives you access to all my public photostream pics ?

The zoom capability is a must so Ken can give you his honest feedback.

Sorry Ted that's a crap job. Far more work needed.  ;D ;D

Seriously though, flat it better, get those little discs working and really get in there, remove all those rough areas, do that and you'll suddenly see the finish improve 100%. Don't be afraid, be rough with it, it can take it, start with dark green and work down as it starts to look better.

When you're polishing it your only really polishing the tops of the ridges and folds in the alloy, that why it looks dark in some areas, the mop just ain't getting down into the very bottom of those ridges etc. 4/10.

Zooms in ok though.

In my defence Ken I gave up on that item due to an oval mounting hole so never finished it - the replacement I painted just could not be bothered to invest the time and effort needed.
You can still see the imperfections on my painted one where the paint has sunk into the casting marks - it will work just the same as a dull calliper arm.

I'll own up Ken I do not have the skills or persistence to achieve your level of finish - I tried and failed after too many hours - whilst I am in awe of your polishing skills I make do with my much lower standard of finish - horses for courses & all that.

I anoint you Ken as King of the Polishers - long may you reign.  8) 8) 8)

P.S. You have hijacked my post it was about posting photos - wish I had used another photo. :o :o :o

I did make the error of mentioning you giving honest feed back - Bazinga - an own goal.  ;D ;D ;D

Ted, it's not skill or anything even remotely like that. Perseverance? yes I'll admit to that one, if you saw just how much time I invest in each piece you'd be alarmed, some pieces are very easy to do, some are very difficult, that piece looks to me to fall within the very easy, some faults but in an easy place to get too, surface is generally accessible so should be easy to polish. If it's scrap practice on it, can't hurt it and you learn by your mistakes. See what works, what doesn't.

I don't want to be King either, far too many people looking at you etc. My aim is to try and bring some people to the same level as me, maybe at some point in the future I'll consider doing some paying jobs or maybe I'll trawl Ebay and buy some poor castings and renovate them for sale later on, if you an earn a few £s doing something you don't mind doing then it's a win win situation.

If you click on the link do you not see all the photos? They should be public.
