Insurance quotes
« on: June 04, 2023, 02:43:07 PM »
Does anyone know an easy way of getting insurance quotes for a modern bike plus five classics. Tried online but it gets to bike details and its a royal pain keep typing in details of six bikes. Surely a quote can be obtained by just saying modern bike plus five. Or is that too simple.
Current bikes:
TriBsa CCM 350 Twin
Honda CB350F in Candy Bacchus Olive
Honda CB750F2 in Candy Apple Red
Triumph Trident 660 in Black/White
Triumph T100C
Suzuki GS1000HC
Honda CB450K0 Black Bomber
Honda CB750K5 in Planet Blue Metallic (Current Project)

I've been with Footman James for many years and have a policy that covers a modern bike (BMW K1300GT) and classics together.

To the best of my knowledge, the only points to be aware of are that the number of modern bikes must not exceed the number of classics, and that the policy does not build a no claims bonus.

I always deal with them by telephone, they are equipped for this and seem to prefer it.

I'm with Peter James with 5 classics and a 2021 triumph trident. This year they want over £600 when last year they wanted £320 with a Honda CB1300 instead of the triumph. I was shocked to say the least. Tried ringing a broker last Friday and again they want all the bike details as well as my details, it is just impossible to get quotes to compare.

I spoke to Peter James and he admitted that he just couldn’t compete on modern bikes (2022 Triumph Tiger 660)

Happy to quote on the 500 but declined the Triumph.

I'm with Peter James and have a modern VFR800 (23 years old now but still classed as modern!). I've been with them for 4 years after 20+ years with Carol Nash. If you call Peter James they make it easy to list the bikes you need to insure. I gave up trying to do it on the various brokers website years ago.

I have all of my bikes with Peter Best Insurance. The 4 classic bikes are on 1 policy around £177.00, my modern Z900rs is on a separate policy at £113.00. I find their service great and would recommend them.

I too was with Peter James, but for some reason the premiums hiked up, I spoke to RH insurance and they will cover both classic and modern, like a lot of classic policies there is no NCB but the premiums tend to be more realistic.
Not only that you get to talk to a human type person and the is no charge for amendments, which some companies charge up to £50 just to type in something different, another money making con, excess is £50, and you can retain salvage should you have the unfortunate luck to have an accident.

Just been on to the insurance at Bemoto as it was recommended. I was on the phone for 57 minutes whilst they took every detail of every bike just to get a price of nearly £600 again. At that I may as well just renew with Peter James. How the hell are you supposed to get multiple quotes when it's taking an hour at a time. I have only done one and lost the will to live, no way I can go through that lot again today. The insurance market is just a bloody mess, typical broken Britain.

Roy - have you tried getting an online quote with footman James. I did a couple of weeks ago and got an instant price online which I could then add/remove bikes to in order to see the difference in overall costs

Great thanks. Was that all for classics or was there a modern bike involved.

Well online with Footman James was a waste of time. Every bike I entered was either wrong details or not there at all. I just gave up as it means I would have to ring them again and life's too short for that again today. Just waiting for Adrian Flux to ring back with the classics quote. Been at this now for over 4 hours just tryng to get a reasonable quote. Ridiculous.
