Cracked cap?

What’s the thoughts? I’m thinking it’s not where I want the spark! 😳

Chunky spark though  does look like a crack in there to give a track out.

Obviously the easiest way out, I put silicone grease in the joints on mine now to avoid any moisture ingress if there's any vulnerability at all.

Had a car once that you could hear it tapping like loose tappets, opening the bonnet at night it was like a little steam fairground in there. Surprised it ran at all

Yes Nigel, I thought that too about plenty power coming from coil. These were all new caps fitted I will be very disappointed if one is cracked, however with the use of a cable tie I have swung cap out a bit from engine casing, no sparks now (temporary fix).

Mines done that recently in torrential rain and wind whilst pulling away from a roundabout in Ireland.
I glanced down at the motor (as you do) and could see the sparks shorting from the new NGK plug caps to the cam cover.
It was OK once the revs got up again tho.

I seem to remember from the seventies that it's a kinda Honda thing...

Early Minis would conk out in the rain - first cure was the fancy cover over the distributor cap with fingers for the lead outlets ( a Marigold Glove type design).

Later fix was a plastic shield attached to the front panel for serious heavy storms - back in the 60's not much if any Silicone Grease about.

It saved my life in 1979. Was trying to pull out in torrential rain in France on 500four. Looking the wrong way and bike just wouldn’t go. An HGV that would have taken me out thundered past. After it passed bike started working again. Will never forget that strange providential event.
