2 for the price of one - almost
« on: June 26, 2023, 12:50:02 PM »
After last year’s K2 renovation, I had a spare tank left over - a bit shabby - which I planned to sell. Lately though I’ve discovered a painter here in Brisbane (a Geordie gent as it happens), and Bob prepped and resprayed said tank + 2 new panels in Flake Sunrise Orange. A beautiful job; plan to swap colours at each major service.

I have a NOS CB550F side panel in Flake Sunrise Orange and it's not what you expect. When you see it in the flesh it's really orange and the flakes in the paint seem massive. You expect it to feel rough as it looks like it should be, it's like Candy Custom Gold on steroids.

I would be interested to see that Ken if you could get a photo to do the colour justice.

Can't access my photo software at the moment, as soon as it comes back online I'll post a pic.

Unsure 550, but when Bob painted up me he mentioned the flakes got ‘bigger’ with the years; I opted for larger flakes than the 1972 FSO.

The finish is indeed beautiful; the pics just can’t do it justice.

That is a lovely deep orange Ken! Mine is too light. But next time round I’d give it an extra couple coats of the candy!
