Metre and headlight bracket painting.

Now I've extracted the headlight and meter brackets from their tenacious locations I'm stripping the clearly non standard thick gloss paint off them as well as the rust I've found. Can anyone tell me if this should be replaced with satin or matt black, should that be lacquered after? I really want to get this right!

If I  remember correctly the brackets are satin black, but might have been gloss finish.

One issue with the CB400F is that it was modern enough to have a compact headlamp shell instead of a nice and roomy old fashioned one!
