I have a question Dave : Is the silencer bolted to the swinging arm ?

So your exhaust moves up & down with the swing arm ?

Must be a very flexible exhaust coupling.

To be honest I have never seen it move as I think the movement is minimal,  it has never leaked or  moved at all since I have been riding it  :)

I suspect you have accidentally turned it into a Bobber then!

If everything is tight and there is no flex joint in the exhaust and nothing has fractured yet, then you have been very lucky or used it very little. Re
   think the silencer mounting.

It’s bent the bracket quite nicely. A good firm ride….

I think you are failing to see what the problem is Dave. The swinging arm moves up and down, anything attached to the swinging arm also moves up and down, so as the suspension compresses going over a bump the swinging arm moves up, this means so would the exhaust, it has to. This would then flex the entire exhaust system, causing it to break, mostly likely in the middle where it joins the collector box. If you don't remove that bracket the exhaust will break into 2 parts, there is absolutely no doubt about that. The exhaust should hang from the pillion footrest bracket as that is static. I'd suggest you fix the problem before the exhaust breaks (which you are very lucky if it hasn't already), run a long bracket to the pillion footrest hole instead.

Not trying to be negative about your silencer fitting - frankly I'm amazed that  it has not snapped somewhere between the mounting point and the cylinder head without some sort of sprung ball socket joint.

As your rear suspension moves up and down the rear of the silencer has to move up and down - at the cylinder head it is fixed so something has to flex between those two points.
