Whoever bought that at auction in early 2022 took a massive hit     Or is the market that depressed? Or is it an example of how to not sell a bike ... 99p start with silly low reserve?

It was originally restored by a guy called Mick Raffle who sold me some 750  parts a few years back. He lives (d) in Herts. but hailed from the NE I believe. After he had restored it, he took it to see the original owner (pictured in his cute slippers  ). The P.O. (or is it O.O.  ) told him that he ordered it at the 1969 Brighton Motorcycle Show.

Market is a little depressed BUT that is one hell of a hit in the space of 18 months. No idea about 750's but would almost £20k be a bit high?

My late father always said the value of anything  is only what someone is prepared to pay for it on the day.

He went on to say valuations are pretty much worthless except for insurance purposes - only when you make a claim will you find out what they will actually pay out.

P.S. As well as being in the car trade he was also an agent for General Accident before the days of the internet, during the boom years for vehicles in the 1950-1960's  over half of all new & used sales where he worked were to first time buyers.
As an agent he was in the right place to sell insurance - he carried his own book of cover notes in his briefcase!

Maybe he bought it thinking he would ride off in to the sun set, but then found many things wrong with the bike.

I had a owner contact me as, he had bought a sandcast as a investment. When he took it out of storage and decided to commission it for sale, he found that it was gushing out oil from the main crank seal or the stud. He sold it at auction and we buy any bikes bought it and had the work done, then sold it on

Could be some truth in that as it was restored a long time ago if I am correct. Seat on it was crumbling but beautiful original profile though ...you never seem to see them like that...probably original with the hard insert piece in the 'duck-tail'. A lot have hidden history .. like the press bike has welded cases and loads of parts from another donor bike.

He is looking for a UK 750K6 and was interested in a assessment. As the seller recons it is better than sliced bread.

Wrong Paint job
wrong tank
CB550 F2/K3 clocks fitted
Wrong shocks
wrong rear footpegs
and so on.

The seller has also refused any type of test ride or inspection
