Honda Grease Nipples
« on: September 12, 2023, 05:41:53 PM »
I'm going to replace all the grease nipples on my bikes as I'm not confident they accept grease properly.
Are they just a friction fit? Do you just wangle them out and knock them in with a tube on the flanged part of the nipple?
They are the ones on the swing arm (350/500/750) and clutch (350/500)
Thanks in advance
Current Bikes:-
Honda CB750K2 (1975)
Honda CB500K2 (12/1972)
Honda CR750 Replica (1972)
Honda CB350K0 (1969)
Kawasaki ZZR1100D3 (1995)
Kawasaki ZZR250 (1990) Project (Going on eBay ASAP)

I know for sure the 750 swing arm grease nipple is threaded Phil as I stock them. That's the only one I can remember though, Trig will know what fit the other are I'm sure.
Edit..... The threaded ones are for later 750's than yours Phil 😱😱😱

They just push in Phil on the flange. Were original some sort of brass which are hard to get hold of theses days.
To get out without damage with a small blade under the flange and as you say wiggle  ;)

Realise that for greasing not just any grease gun will do. Can be frustrating. I maybe have succeeded about three or four times, in over a ton, that I have managed to get it in there. Have a look at these different nipples. The grease pump shown in the pic will require quite some muscle to push it in there.

A "Wanner" Swiss made grease gun will get the job done every time. Excellent quality and action, look for one on the bay as don't know if made now.

They sell for about 20 quid, and one of the best value for money you can buy. They'll get grease into old solidified propshaft joints that many won't even touch  ;D

Highly recommended.

Just changed the nozzle on my grease gun and managed to get grease in ALL the nipples on all my bikes! So I think I'll take Nigel's recommendation and spend the 'nipple' money on a 'Wanner'!
