No Bryan - I sold mine to frank at MCU earlier this year. He's just put it up for sale for a princely sum...

He's done the same with my CB250RSA! Although I had the choice, sell to a dealer and that's it or sell on Ebay/Private and suffer the tyre kickers as I did with the Kawasaki.

Exactly what you said. To be clear, I have no issue with Frank putting the bike up for whatever he wants. He paid the price I asked, zero hassles, he dealt with DVLA registration and was a pleasure to deal with. It enabled me to put the funds into my next restorations.

I will however be selling 10-15 bikes in the coming months and will be listing them all on eBay with a reserve and see what happens The time has finally come to get out of the bikes.

I agree with you James 100%. I have dealt with Frank before and know how he works and I don't have any issues with that. He bought the 400/4 I restored for my o/h but she said it was too heavy. He collected it the same day and dealt with the DVLA. I sold the Kawasaki through eBay and it became a real pia, never again! I didn't want to sell the RSA but I knew a bike had to go and this was the one I used least. I rode the bike to Frank and he agreed to pay what I asked for there and then and again he dealt with everything. I would sell to him again, no problem. I know he lists bikes at premium levels but that's his prerogative, if they don't sell that's money he has tied up in a lot of stock and he has to pay tax, rates, overheads etc. He runs a business at the end of the day and has to make a profit otherwise he wouldn't do it.
Good luck with the sales of your bikes, I've just looked at the list, very impressive. If you had a CB160 or CB175 I think I could have made room in the garage somehow  ;)!

Out of interest Dave... what did the Z400J make in the end?

Long story Ash but eventually sold it for £6,150. It was the BIL's bike that I restored for him as something to do during lockdown. As soon as it was finished he wanted to sell it. I took it to Frank and he offered £7,250 but then there was an issue because although it has a age related UK registration (the bike sat in a shed in Southampton for 37 years with a Guernsey registration) it meant Frank would have to pay tax on it if it went to the EU. BIL also wanted more considering it's unique history and genuine 315 miles from new. In the end I bought it from the BIL for the price of the restoration (parts, paint, chrome etc but not my time to restore it) and another £500 on top (it was a complete and corroded non-runner before I restored it. As it was now Autumn and the wrong time to sell a bike I advertised it on eBay and in two classic bike mags. Two guys in Japan were after it (they are a bit of a cult bike in Japan) but they wanted me to arrange the shipping and paperwork etc. I wasn't prepared to do that as I've never done it before. In the end I sold it to a collector via the magazine advert, eBay was terrible, nothing but questions with the usual 'what will you take for it' or 'what is the reserve', 'is the milage genuine' etc.
At least when you deal with Frank he takes care of everything and if he likes it he will buy it there and then and the money is in your bank account straight away.
