Welcome Rob, from a fellow 550 owner, you're in good company on here.  So much invaluable knowledge that I really don't know where I'd be with my project with all the help I've received in a very short time.

Need to be more specific Rob, 550F or 550K. Same cc but completely different bikes.

550K1/2 will have a chrome tank cap for instance whereas 550F will have the cap under a flap on the tank.
Kids in a the back seat cause accidents.

Thanks for the welcome messages to all of you.
Its a 550 k from 1976 a rolling resto. Starting in next few weeks with the exhausts. I am in my shed which has no heating but wont be long getting some as i am in my 50s.😉
Any help or tips with baffle removal would be well recieved. They are the trumpet style pipes. Thinking they are secured with bolts in the spacer piece linking the pipes at rear?

If they are the standard Honda tulip type pipes, they don't come apart to remove the baffles. The little pipes you are referring to are just link pipes.

Yes Nurse Julie they are the pipes. Not sure how baffles come out. Thought they may have been secured in the link.

You would have to cut open the silencers at the weld line to get to the baffles and then re weld and re chrome. Like I said, they aren't removeable unless you resort to butchery.
