Does anyone make proper B & W pressed alloy plates these days?

I bought a B & W rear plate for my 500 in February this year from a firm calling themselves "Qualitypressings" on flea bay (seller currently on holiday).
It was not cheap at £18.70  it included a pretty substantial bonded on alloy backing plate so on the face of it seemed good quality when it arrived.

I was well miffed when today as I carefully attached the plate to the rear fender mounting the black backing was already starting to bulge from the plate.
Even worse as I tightened up the plastic screws two ping marks appeared on the plate that have no obvious cause - not the mounting bracket plus no corresponding marks on the back of the plate. The rear of the plate when I removed it is lovely unmarked flat alloy wtf. I have contacted the seller but unlikely they will replace it f.o.c. imho.

Does anyone make propper pressed plates today or are they all stick on types as mine clearly is?

Wish I had orderd B&W plastic now.

I bought one of these Ted. My old reverse engraved plate was still usable but had numerous holes in it from changing the number plate holders so I thought I'd get new. Plus it was more grey than silver

I agree it looks to be well made with the built in backing but why on earth those ping marks appeared is a mystery. All I can think of is there was dried adhesive lumps between the layers that has pushed up. It's not as if you can tighten plastic bolts much as they soon jump a thread. It is to the left of the plastic bolt where the black part of the plate was starting to separate from the backing. It appears the black bacground is a stuck on covering. I dont think it was related to drilling the hole as I used a small drill as a pilot hole then a slow speed drill to the right size.

Strange for sure, I didn’t drill mine. I stuck it on, maybe for the best!

Did you just use those number plate sticky pads straight onto the plate or was there a backing plate on the plate bracket?
I was worried about vibration so hence bolts.

Just an update - I sent a photo of my plate issue to the seller "quality pressings" who I purchased my plate from in Feb 2023.

They have advised me that it was probably swarf when drilling the hole that caused the problem - they are sending me a free replacement plate.

Oddly enough they advised "never trust sticky pads" saying it is unlikely to happen again.

In answer to the original question Ted, i got a pressed plate from a stand at cirencester steam fair on a while you wait basis but also got a plastic black/silver one from a firm in channel islands, will have to search name for you if you want
