CB550k1 main jet spring retainer clip
« on: November 10, 2023, 07:44:21 AM »
I have two of these broken but had seen they were listed by NRP so was not worried. Of course they are now sold out ! Anyone got some spares - happy to pay going rate. Many thanks

Pretty sure I have a couple of used ones if that helps Dave f.o.c. to you. If they are of use I will track them down they are off a 500.

Sadly it turns out that despite his very good intentions Ted  doesn’t have  what I need - to be clear what I need is two of the beam springs between the main jet and float bowl

Still hoping someone can help me out

Cheers

Rare Dave, they tend to rust to bits when the carbs are stored with water in, then they snap due to the pressure of the bowl etc. You really need someone with broken carbs that they are selling the insides off. I did sell one a year or so ago, I MIGHT have another but 2? you'd be lucky if that was the case.

Thanks Ken. Anything you can find appreciated. My fallback is try the eclip and regular spring approach but not sure how it would seat securely against the bowl. In one carb there was no spring and jet had fallen out. In another just half a spring. It’s not a great design is it ?

Possibly Dom, not sure 100% if they'd be affected by constant immersion in petrol though. Other may know.

Hi David,
Looking at the link you posted of NRP, the 550 clips appear to be the same as the 400. I've got a box of 400 bits in the shed and probably have some clips. I won't get chance to look tomorrow but if you PM me Sunday to remind me, I'll have a look.

Hi Deano thanks - they are the same as far as I can tell. Will certainly pm you Sunday unless I’m sorted in the meantime. Many thanks indeed.

Thanks Bryan good to know I can get them there as a last resort. That’s nearly 3 times the cost of getting them from NRP !

If you go to the 4 into 1 website and eventually find them you can click on a link to be told when they are back in stock and thiers are stainless, i bought some through a US contact a while ago, but used them.
And yes they are identical to 400 and i believe 350 four but never seen one of them to be sure
