EBay listing spam
« on: December 05, 2023, 07:12:29 AM »
I have reported this company many times for listing violations. Nothing against Yamahas but it irritates me when they appear in my 500/4 search.

Maybe if more people reported it they would act ?

So annoying Steve! I encountered this many times whilst looking for a C90. “not C70, not C50” and so on. I too will make an official complaint if I encounter this again. I remember messaging the one seller and asking what the hell it was he was selling because he had so many models in the title.😡

I've always assumed that this type of search outcome is as a result of the Meta Data Algorithims if that's what they are called so if what you searched for is not an exact fit it comes up with anything that has some of the letters or numbers in it - nowt to do with e-bay programme but linked to the search engine you use.

Seems worse with Google Chrome, Firefox is a tad better - I used DuckDuckGo for a while but found it was too specific with the search parameters - so often came up with nothing. I liked Netscape back in the day.

PS I know naff all about computing so what have posted might be a load of gonads.

It’s just the standard eBay search Ted.
500/4, 500-4 or 500 4

This guy is spamming the search as anyone looking for a 350 LC or X7 250 will get this.

It’s against eBay rules.

Hi Steve,
I've also got fed up with this stuff when searching, so now it's New Year - no resolutions from me except not putting up with things we might be able to change, we could all on this forum report this particular spammer.  Would you want to start a Moderator post to encourage this?

On Yahoo Japan auctions it's done all of the time Steve (no eBay in Japan) . They seem to just  list every model from the same era. So if it's a CB72 part they will list CB92,CB72, CB160. CB175 etc and it's totally confusing plus they list everything as 'junk' even though a part is in super condition visually. I guess to protect their honour if there is a cock-up in the listing or a buyer claims it is not as described. Not sure why a Yam 2-stroke would be described as a 500 4 though?

EBay call it “keyword spamming” and it’s against their rules.

Ebay is good at these issues. When searching for CB400F spares on Ebay I often see bits for the 1990 CB400F NC27 among the offerings, some people are bound to end up with the wrong thing.
But I've had a Suzuki GT380 in the past and I did some curiosity searching, who would have thought that a pair of chain adjuster supports could cost £999.99 ?  :o https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393784855589
I did a google search for the same thing and sanity returned, the same item from the same source gave a price of  £35.00. I think Classic Bike Fasters need to talk to Ebay!  ;D

I've just been scammed on Ebay, I bought a swing feeder for one of my parrots aviaries, what I didn't notice was the delivery date was 4th May even though they showed 10 in UK stock.  I've tried getting a refund and reporting it to Ebay.  Seller doesn't respond to messages and Ebay don't want to know

The guy from Hull Bertrams Bike Bits does that when he has sold out of something but expecting getting some more  ... just puts a ridiculous price on the item. Totally confusing.
