HAILWOOD
« on: February 06, 2024, 04:20:17 PM »
Saw this picture on Facebook.
I was lucky enough to see him in the IOM in his comeback year.
Totally different riding style, very tucked in behind the fairing.
Suzuki said they had never seen slicks worn as far around the tyre

I never saw him race in anger as I was too young at the time. I did however see him riding around Brands Hatch on a CBX in about 79 or 80. Honda held some kind of open day where the public could get into Brands for free and test ride some of the new bikes. Mike Hailwood took to the track on his own aboard the fully stock CBX, what a sound. It was a freezing cold day, that I do remember!

I was at Brands in 1974 when those photos were taken. I was only 13 but already a regular visitor to Brands, going up on the back of my cousins BSA Gold Star.
