Maybe they'll adopt the system over here in Victoria.
You only need a RoadWorthiness Certificate when you sell your vehicle or when your told to get one by the Police or Vic Roads. The test itself is quite basic compared to the MOT Test.
You're supposed to keep your vehicle in a roadworthy condition but there are no compulsory annual test carried out.
If you keep your vehicle and run it into the ground you never have to get it done and as things don't rust much over here there are quite a few clunkers on the roads.
A test certificate or insurance is not required to get your annual registration either. You get your sticker through the post and it Aecomes valid once you pay the fee.
An annual yest had been mooted but no sign of it happening.
