Alternative to the chrome points cover
« on: March 18, 2024, 08:56:57 PM »
My chrome points cover on my 550 is a bit rusty and new ones seem to have increased in price a fair bit.

Thought I’d see if my CB650 one fits which is cast aluminium and it fits perfectly.

Not for the purists but looks pretty good.

Looks good to me - better than the flimsy  chromed thin metal original held on with  counter sunk cross head JIS screws. I've seen some aftermarket alloy ones as well at daft money.

Does it take the original gasket?

Not sure on the gasket, mine is missing. I’ll let you know when I get one.

The 500 cover is the same as the 400 one iirc - it's a cork gasket that sits in the recess.

Looks like your 650 one is 30371-426-000.

I have a 650 one...it's a good solid thing compared to the 550 one, and it polishes up nicely.

There used to be aftermarket covers that were transparent.
