Front brake question
« on: May 12, 2011, 02:57:53 PM »
How far does your front brake lever come back? Really looking at early K's. My K1 moves about 1/2" before being solid.
A K2 that I have just replaced master cylinder seals, caliper seals and piston moves about half way to the bar. No air in there as it does not pump. Appears to just be the piston moving back and forth.

Maybe the K1 pivot has become stuck.

Thanks

From new my CB750F1 brake lever came way back, despite lots of bleeding it did not improve, so I cut a slice from a piece of steel rod and made a spacer, this took up the slack. Over the years the pads have been changed, the fluid changed, the seal/piston changed, the master cylinder changed, the brake lines changed to braided, but the spacer is still in there. It does not improve braking but it feels nicer.

Cheers

Thanks Den.
Suspect the K1 as it has not been touched for a couple of years. The K2 has all new bits including the pads, so may well try a bit more adjustment.
Also have a serious look at the K1 system.

Nice to have a view from .

Thanks
