Oil guide (Final)
« on: May 23, 2011, 09:43:33 AM »
Any one know why Honda stopped fitting this part (15621-300-000 Oil Guide Final) to the K7 and F1/2.  I think it was to divert any oil away from the rear breather pipe.  Its shown on microfiche as being fitted to the earlier models and my K7 has the drilled and tapped post for it to mount on but it's not on the microfiche for the other models.  Was it found just not to be needed?  I have shown where it should fit.

Was it not something to do with the built in chain oiler on the early models?, cheers Mick.

;) it was used to supply oil too the chain (via that oil catch tray that you show in pic) through the final drive spocket and onto the chain, i think it was too try and solve the problem with chain breakage ,it was not added until late 1970 and early models did not have the chain oiler although the oil feed was adjustable it was not very successful as the hotter the oil got the more oil poured onto chain and then onto the pillion passenger they made the chain guard longer for that reason i think, unless your bike came fitted with part #23520-300-020 then you dont need it, part #23520-300-000 was and still is a better solution. ::)

Thanks for the replies.  It must have been for oiling the chain on the early models, the K7 has an O-ring chain so would not need this feature.

Was looking at an oil flow schematic last night (sad, eh!) and came across this diagram which confirms this part was for the chain oiling on the early models.
