I bought a chain for my 550K3 at the recent Stafford Show from an outfit called Sprockets Unlimited.
They call themselves "Motorcycle Chain Specialists.......since1984 (also known as 'The Chain Gang')
Their base is in Evesham Worcs. and their email address is:-  astrosprox@btinternet.com
Website : www.sprocketsunlimited.com

I found them very helpful and they were doing very brisk business at the show.   Might be worth a try.

Thanks chaps.

Is it ever possible to get away with just a new chain if the sprockets look good or is that a false economy?

On my 500 I always managed two chains per one set of sprockets. No problem.

On chainsaws they say to run 2 - 3 cains to every set of bar / chain / sprockett, changing the combination over periodically so wear is even accross the whole set. that it would seem is the best way to get the most wear out of a chain and sprockett set for really heavy use.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

If the old chain is really nackered then it usually wears the pitch of the sprockets so a new one will not fit correctly. If the pitch is normal then ok to fit a new chain.

Oh and in my opinion then "KAL-Gaurd" black chainlube is probably the best in the world!!! honestly I'm mad on this stuff as it makes chains last for ages, just put it on when you get home from a ride so it dries and nearly all of it stays on the chain but mostly it just seems to halt any major wear so well worth it.

As far as lubrication is concerned, I use a scottoiler and cannot recommend it highly enough.  Absolutely brilliant, the only thing is I have to remember to top up the reservoir every few months.
