Can Superdream comstars be fitted on a 550F?

My Superdream has just died so wonder if I can use the wheels in my 550.

On the one hand it seems that Honda use a lot of the same design/spacing/etc so there can be some surprising exchangeability with some parts, buuuuut they also have a high use of unique parts that will go against it.

It's probably worth trying to bolt together the main parts and see from the start if there are any show stoppers to give you a better idea of potential and if it's at all possible.

rear brake and spindle are almost cirtainly smaller. The spindle issue might be got round with spacers / sleeves. Less powerful (smaller so assuming less stopping power) brake on the rear might well be a bad move, though the superdream's not far behind the 550 on weight so might be ok for actual stopping ability, you might have brake fade issues. Front wheel I think would fit but brake disk alighnment and diameter might catch you there. A cb650 rear comstar is however a good match and will slot streight in and look good in my own books at least (tried it on a 550k3 so spacers might be dfferent?)
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

I read somewhere that they're a straight drop-in on a 400-four, but as above I think the spindle diameter on the 550 is a bit beefier.

*update* - found a thread on the sister site...

If it ain't broke - it'll probably wait 'til it's raining and you've got to be somewhere important.

You can use the front from a superdream but you have to use a cb650 rear as the hub wider to suit a 4cylinder engine and should go straight on with just modifying some spacers.
