Revs sticking on cb 750 f1
« on: July 09, 2011, 06:43:54 PM »
Hi. I have just had carbs rebuilt, new plugs and caps, points and condensors. Have vacuum gauged the carbs and all was fine. Refitted airbox and set air screws. But now when i rev bike up it tends to stick at high revs and only drop back down to tickover slowly. Airbox connections seem fine. Has anybody got any ideas please.

Check the rubber to head and carbs have the clips done up tight enough to make sureyou don't have any air leaking into the intake.

Also check that there is the right amount of slack in the throttle cable (the pulling one) Honda says 2~6mm at the twistgrip flange. If you don't get slack here it conflicts with the closing cable and can hold the carb slides up a bit.

Tightened up carb rubbers and seems to be running better.

They are quite a heavy/thick rubber and do get less soft over the years so if disturbed then it often feels that you have to do them up really tight just to get an effective seal and prevent air leaking into the engine.
