New boy

Hi just checking in.Always been mainly a Triumph man but I have always hankered after a 1970's Honda to customise to my tastes.Just been offered a 1983 cbx550 for buttons but on asking on the forum was told it's a pile of sh**te which nothing from the earlier bikes fits!I was thinking of just keeping the frame and engine and changing everything else to go down the cafe racer route.Any ideas on parts compatibility would be great.Unfortunately I can't afford to go out and buy a 70's one  already done so I might have to plod on with this one.

Hi Wab, and welcome to the forum, i dont think there will be much that will be interchangeable from a 1983 bike to a 70's bike apart from maybe the tyres?
