CB750 DOHC 1982
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:03:25 PM »
This is a CB750 DOHC whiich I am slowly restoring. After cleaning off the layers of grease and stuck on dirt, I found a clean almost corrosion free bike with no rust to speak of.  The wheels are very nice with no corrosion and only very slightly dulled. I have resprayed the tank panels and front mudguard in Honda satin silver using the correct decals for an 82 American spec which is what this bike is . I have rebuilt the calipers with new pistons and seals, a new set of Ikons turned up on ebay at half price so I got them as I couldn't get a set of FVQ's at a reasonable price. Recently a nice used pair went for

Very nice bike, thanks for showing us.

I had a 900 version in early 80's and thought it was a brilliant bike, handled quite well and went like hell compared to stuff around at the time. I had such a good time on it.

The early ones had to have an oil path mod to stop the sproket seal blowing out, but cant remember from when it was already done on the line. Might have the bulletin somewhere if i can find it but not promising

Thanks Uk Pete and K2-K6 for the kind words................., I like it in its own funky way too.
Its got its bugbear with wearing camchains but with the mileage I do it won't be a problem. I had a couple of 900 DOHC's in the eighties and liked the way they went with the free breathing cylinder head. I'll post pics when its back on the road.

Bryan J I hope the engine seal mod is built in as its a later model!

Thought the early ones all had the comstar wheels with the spokes the other way round so if original it's second generation anyway.

That colour is very like the US spec ones that were raced by Freddy Spencer and others, quite a few pics around of that race era.

As you say about the 900, very free breathing compared to previous fours with a real nice hit of power at the top end. Mine would really smoke that skinny rear tyre.
