Hello from Somerset (i ride bikes not tractors) (with pictures)
« on: January 30, 2012, 11:18:53 AM »
Hi,
Im Alex fom Burnham on sea.
My usual ride has beent my VTX1300 since I graduated from my Virago 535.
I wanted a cafe project and got myself a workable 1978 Cb750F (F2) Supersport.

It has been great fun to ride round on but now im looking to make it in to something special. You will hear me asking many qiestions soon in the 750 section as I have no mechanic training or experience but willing to learn.

P.s. Excellent forum, been reading for months.

First problem with an F2 is the exhaust valve guides wear out quickly

Hi Alex welcome to the site, the F2 is becoming quite desireable now, they also make a great base for a project, if you check out my links you can see a couple of mine

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I will try to get round to uploading pictures tonight.
I am aware of the F2 troubles and they are top of my list of things to be done.

I will visit the vtx forum as i have never looked. Mine is a 2005 S in black.

Hopefully some people will find what i have plannedfor the F to be acceptable, if not, tough. Lol.

Thanks again.
Alex

Yea I love carpy's work. When I was choosing what bike to Cafe its his site that made the decision for me. The only other choice at the time of buying my 750 was a good condition 1000cc old sport kawasaki but the 750 came cheaper in the end and I couldnt be happier.

Lovely to ride, needs to stop a little quicker but that will come.

As promised here are (eventually) some pictures.

The 750 as I got her. photo looks better that it was! dents on the tank, chips and rust all over.

Cleaned up, rubbed down, new rear suspension (2" lower) with front forks dropped to match, new bars, new headlight brackets and new indicators front and rear

The Collection:
Virago 535 (now my girlfriends), my VTX 1300, my 750 SS, a VFR400 (waiting for the money as its promised to someone)
