CB750 Super Sport

What exactly do I have?
Frame No. CB750G - 1005503
Engine No. B750GE - 1004749
The only ref I can find that coincides with these numbers is the CSMNL site that quotes it as a CB750 F2 Supersport (England) but everywhere else I look quotes the F2 as frame number from 210001 and engine number from 2600004.
Is there such a model as an F3.
The bike is a 'T' registration which ran from 1st Aug 78 to 31st July 79 and was first registered on 18th June 79. The tax disc on the bike ran out on 30th Sept 81 so it appears to have been on the road for only about 2 years. It's only got 16000 on the clock.
Any ideas?

Not a runner Pete. Scared to try and start it without a bit of investigation.
The guy I got it off said the last time he was on it, his left boot was covered in oil so he stuck it in a van, took it home and bought another bike (the VF500). Seems a bit drastic to me, like buying a new car cos the ash tray's full. LOL. Engine turns over with the kickstart though. Am just finishing off restoring my '95 ZZR600 then I'll start the CB750 restoration.
The bike's got a bit of bling on it, ribbed alloy clutch and alternator covers, a clear plastic points cover, a seeley silencer and finned rocker caps so someone loved it at some point. It's also had a rear end shunt in its short life. The rear number plate bracket is bent and the plastic rear mudguard is missing but apart from that, looks to be original.
Anyone got a rear plastic mudguard? Got a brand new rear number plate bracket off fleabay for a tenner.
Think its worth trying to fire it up?

I would put money on the exhaust valve guides being worn out and the oil leak on left boot probably gearchange seal

Pete, tried to upload pictures.
Reduced them to 250KB and clicked on " insert image" then added them in "attachments" at the bottom left, machine chuntered away for a minute or two then came up with an error message.
What am I doing wrong?

Looks like a great start for a restoration, will you return the bike to standard or have you something else in mind ?
the finned covers  and seeley exhaust will fetch you some money on ebay ,

Still pondering on what to do. The bike looks to be all there, apart from the rear plastic mudguard, so it seems a shame not to return it to standard which is what I normally like to do. The bike club I am in are suggesting that I build a special, a cafe racer or the like. The VF500 I got out of the same shed was fully restored to standard and has had quite a few admiring looks and comments because it is standard I.E. "that can't be an '84, its brand new mate"

The VF500 looks really good, standard bikes seem to fetch the best money when it comes to selling, but you will find that trying to restore your F2 to a decent standard condition will also cost quite a bit, if you cafe it you can chuck any old part on, and keep the cost down
