hi all,i am building a cafe racer from a 400 4 ,i am junking the old knackered switchgear and replacing it with tricon switches etc. my question is this,is it possible to use the red kill button as the starter and if so how do i wire it?  Paul.

You can use any switch as the starter. It's just a matter of wiring it to the solenoid.

I'd be careful though as the starter switch is "momentary" (ie it is off as default and only on when you press it) - the kill switch latches to one or other position so could be dangerous.

It looks to be a push switch, so shouldn't be a safety concern as Steve advises about.

Looking at the wiring diagram (clicky) the original starter button is a simple earthing out contact, and the Tricon red button is described as a cut-out switch which normally have the same construction, earthing out. If all that is checked correct then you should be able to wire it the same as the Honda original.
