CB550-F2 77 Running Problems
« on: February 27, 2012, 01:57:07 PM »
Hi Guys,

Just put the CB-550 back together again after decoke, camchain change and complete carb replacement kit refurbish.

- Static Ignition Ignition - checked and double checked
- Tappets clearances checked and double checked
- New Pilot Screws 1.5 turns out
- New Needles set to second groove
- Carb Valve slides set with 1/8 inch drill bit[/li][/list]

Still running unevenly and poorly requiring choke to start - yet plugs look fine

Any help with what to do or check next?

Regards

John

hi John these carbs can be a nightmare, lots of posts on the subject. Check the float valves in case they are stuck open or shut, also the slow jets are often blocked solid clean out or replace. you will be good at taking carbs off !
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Any check of the carb rubbers? to see if they are leaking.

Many thanks for the feedback.

All the carb passages are clear. Float heights are correct and working correctly.  I will check the carb rubers and might try new spark plugs this weekend to see if this gives me any improvement.

Regards

John
