I am trying to get my 400f2 back on the road after about 10 years. The front brake sticks on so i am attempting to fit a new piston seal having tried freeing every thing else off .Has any one else done this before?      digger parker ;

Very common problem, have you got the piston out yet?

Of the 800 members here, Ill bet about 800(ish) have had to do this at some time.

Piston seals are quite easy to fit (assuming you've got the piston out!)

Just be sure to clean the square profile groove inside the caliper as any dirt left in here will cause it to happen again. Use something soft like a toothpick or a cocktail stick.

thanx for the tips ,i havent got the piston out yet i will attempt it at weekend, will it come out if i keep pumping brake lever ?      phill

Should do, but you may have to top up the master cylinder to get it all the way out, but remember to cover your tank to protect it from fluid which sometimes sqirts out of the master cylinder if you dont put the cap back after topping it up

Also put the caliper in a pot as when the piston pops fluid goes all over

Hi digger,
There's a thread here where I posted with exactly the same problem :- http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,3954.msg16866.html#msg16866 - Pity the photos have disappeared ?
Now cured with a phenolic piston from Kevin and a lot of advice on here. I also drilled and tapped the pivot bracket and fitted a grease nipple.
Now works very well.

good advice,the grease nipple on the brake arm looks great pitty mr honda didnt think of it    .  digger
