G'day from Australia,

I couldn't find any local forums with any info on CB500's so I'm hoping some of you guys/gals might be able to help me out in identifying or giving me some information on this old bike which I bought a couple of years ago.

Registration date: 1971
VIN / Frame No: cb500-2064651
Engine no: cb550e-1038341

G'day mate. You will find everything you need to know here    http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php                         ....whenever the links start working again.  ::)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

Are you certain the frame number starts with a 2 as that can not be 71

The VIN number is definitely correct.

The air-box is stamped with the number HM CB550-F.

My research (sohc.net) says:-
CB500 K1;               http://www.sohc4.net/?page_id=153
Introduced 04/01/1972
Frame#: CB500-2000001-

then for your 550 engine:     http://www.sohc4.net/?page_id=2765
1975 CB550 K1
Engine#: CB550E-1029182-

(& that airbox marking suggests that was chnaged with the 550 engine at some point in its past)
