Carb to head rubbers
« on: March 19, 2012, 09:05:09 PM »
I have a mis match carbs and engine, I have a 74 engine, and 2 sets of F2 Carbs, but no carb to head rubbers at all.

Can anyone tell me if I can use the later carbs with early rubbers? F2 rubbers seem non existent....

Cheers.

Pete.

I thought you had to have F2 specific mounts for these carbs but I'm by no means certain, so you're going to need some more current info from someone else.

If you just want to run it as a temporary measure you can make some up from car rad top hoses to get you going for a while.

Best thing you can do is E-Bay your F2 carbs and get a set from A K1-6 series or F1. The carb rubbers for the F2 are no longer available, and there are four different ones (K1-6 and F1 only have 2, turn the others upside down) plus, if you DID manage to find some F2 rubbers, chances are they still wouldn't fit properly on a K head. Just to confuse the issue further, the K7 used similar carbs to the F2, but the rubbers for those are not available either, and they are different part No's to the F2 :(
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Thanks chaps, I've had a closer look at what I've got, its a 410 head, which would indicate F2, but, the inlet stubs are 36mm diameter with a 38mm lip, I would have expected 38mm stubs, can anyone confirm the diameter of either K0-5 or F2 stubs??

I'm tempted to turn the carbs down to 36mm and use fluoro lined silicone hose, I recon witha couple of 135 degree bends I can make the 4 connectors.
