K7 stanchion removal?

Any tips or steps on removing the stanchion from the fork bottom? Having real problems!

I assume you are having trouble removing the allen screw in the bottom. When thats removed the forks come apart. As so often happens turning the screw just results in the damper inside turning as well. The answer - a windy gun. Defeats the screw every time.

If its the Allen screw, I ended up going to Aldi and buying an air gun at a tenner.  Put a piece of broom handle down inside to jam the lower pipe (part 51440-393-003) and stuck it in a vise.  The broom handle was carved down to locate properly, make sure you do not distort the lower pipe as it carries a nylon oil restrictor ring.  One came undone immediately, the other wouldn't shift and damaged my hex socket.  Finally drilled the head of the screw off, took the fork apart and stuck the remnants of the screw shank in the vise and undid it that way

It is the Allen screw I'm having trouble with. I do have an impact gun to use. Is it best to leave the spring and top nut on to get it undone?

Yes, leave the spring and top nut in place, it helps by offering some resistance
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

I had the same problem, in the end I removed the top nut placed a socket (can't remember the size) in the fork leg on top of the spring and put the nut back on, this was a struggle. The idea is to compress the spring more to get solid contact at the bottom of the leg.
I then put the fork leg in a vice, and further compressed the spring by pushing it against the wall (nut end), this allowed me to undo the allen bolt fairly easily. no impact gun required.
Other people, see previous post have used broom handles, plastic piping etc.
