barrel removal
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:19:44 PM »
the latest problem is lifting the cylinder block off the crankcase, it lifts up to within about an inch of the top of the studs but stops as if something solid is stopping it. all nuts etc have been removed so the only thing it can be is the studs themselves but i cant see how they are holding it. Have tried tapping gently but have damaged a fin. Any ideas anyone? Mick

It's caused by the secret additive (otherwise known as cr*p) collecting in the holes in the flange at the very bottom where the studs go through.

If you keep pushing back down and pulling up eventually the threads at the top of the studs will clean the kack (technical term) out an you will just have to clean the stud threads
