fairly easy to rebuild, hardest part is getting the old retaining clip out. see my other posts and others.I would advise getting genuine repair kit as i found the pattern one had incorrect parts inside. Regards, Mick
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Plus one on the circlip, I had to get a pair of 'master cylinder circlip pliers' to get mine out. Rebuild itself is straightforward but be scrupulously clean and make sure everything goes back the same way.

If you don't fancy it Dave Silvers do an aftermarket replacement, doesn't look quite the same but does the job.

DS have just launched the aftermarket part to their "dealer network"

See "Recommended parts suppliers..." board for details.

My cylinder needed rebuilt too. £23 for rebuild kit and £29 for a repro master cylinder. I went for the repro. Silly me should have PM'd Steve.  ::)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.
