Hi,
Is it just me but only being over a year old never been in the rain they are starting to rust.I clean them after every ride out is Honda quality for old bikes getting bad?These things are not cheap did I get a Friday afternoon batch?They are Honda from DS not aftermarket.Your comments please have you guys had dodgy new chrome?

Nothing seems as good anymore, But do you think expectations are higher when you get older [ not saying you are old ]
I bought some old ones off Flea Bay polished up like new and seem to be holding out.

You are right I am an old git and I do expect quality for my money.Back in the 70s even riding in all weathers still good chrome after 3 years but maybe you have to put up with this stuff if you want to keep these old girls on the road,

All of mine rusted back in the day, so I don't think the quality has got worse.

I clear powder coated some a while ago and they're still good, they don't get hot enough to burn off/melt the powder coat. I've also silver Smoothrite painted some with good results, but they never look as good as chromed.

Maybe your right don't know but like you I did some on a 400/4 with high temp grey came up bloody good.Oh well have to live with it.

Hi bitsa I don't know if we get this fuel in the uk as I am to lazy to look at the pumps.But I have had loads of problems with carbs and injectors blocking and O rings deteriorating on fuel lines on various vehicles.Most resent was on my Triumph Speed 4 I changed the speed connectors on the fuel lines about four months ago but it dumped its fuel over the engine yesterday due to perished O rings.
I to have decided all modern materials are crap.I have noticed everything change and i am only 27

Hi Green1,
Did you see my original post I think in misc about this fuel Sp95e10?.The sister site from what I read do not like it as well.
It has 10 percent etenthol in it and certain rubbers used do not like it I believe.Some rubbers swell to twice the size then split and leak.
As previously said our local rag did a topic on it kawa z1 seized etc.All of this is what I have read and again I hope it is all cobblers but I do have my doubts.

I did read your original post and all it did was make me paranoid as I have had so many problems. It seams every time I go to use a bike it has some sort of fault.The only bike I don't have issues with is the 250u.Everything made out of rubber on my triumph has perished but everything on the 250 looks as good as new.

I too was paranoid after spending big bucks restoring my CB750 but searching around I came to this conclusion.
Do not use it stick to Sp95 or better as my yamaha agent said use Sp98.
Its not recommended by the petrol site for any triumph b4 2007.Yamaha is not mentioned at all.Honda not b4 1993.Replace all on your triumph and stick to the good fuel.The sister site does not like this as well have a look.Hope this helps.

I can see why the paranoia when you hear/read about the Z900 problems, especially as you say, spending a lot of money and time on restoration. I have to admit being a bit reckless with my old Yam, I have £200 in it and have more spares than I can shake a stick at (I recently upset MrsTom, I had a tot-up with spares and short of a genny and drive shaft I have enough to build another ....I already have 4 )

A couple of years ago I paid decent money for a few metres of rubber fuel pipe, it lasts a year before cracking and failing, and thats on RON95
