Nice bike. Seems a shame to chop it up.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

I bought mine new in 76 and over the years I replaced lots of parts that I did not like such as the clunky headlamp holder and the tail lamp/number plate holder, but I kept all the standard bits and pieces.
When I did a restoration job on it I dug all the standard pieces out and reinstated them, but I still kept the F2 tank and seat as I preffered them, but the original standard tank and seat are in the loft.

Cheers

Interesting topic, what 'should' be done to an old bike, but one that will always bring 4 different opinions from any 3 bikers. My F1 is standard except the zorst, but I have replaced most fasteners with stainless and nasty cross heads with cheese heads or Allen bolts, am sure in 20 years time someone will be scratching around for original fasteners and they must have 'made in japan' on them, would imagine these are the guys who will be importing Japanese air to put in the tyres.

Others like originality but prefer to leave the rust, sorry 'patina' so a bike shows its age and history, whilst others just want to ride the thing and will upgrade to modern items.

Who's right? everyone. As long as it keeps a bike on the road or even just in a showroom so we can remember thats fine by me. Your bike reflects you and your character and long may it, thats why my bike looks like an old fart  ;)

So from an old, confirmed F1-o-phile welcome Stu, have fun. and I will probably be in the queue for any parts you sell!

I'm intrigued Den, whats the difference between F1 and F2 tank and seat? ( apart from cosmetics ) that make you prefer them?

Pure cosmetics, the original tank and seat were red and I prefer the black F2 stuff, the only real difference is the petrol tap connectors on the F1 and F2 are different diameters, as are the tank spigots.

...importing Japanese air to put in the tyres.

So what's wrong with OEM Honda air for tire inflation??  ;D
