Headlight bulbs
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:10:50 AM »
I have a standard headlight and the bulb just blew ( and its only 36 years old, rubbish I call it  ;) ) strangely I have another 70's one I can replace it with for now but don't expect that to last long either.

What does everyone else use and where do you get them? I am not after upping wattage, standard will be fine as I won't be doing any dark country lanes and I ride on dipped beam all the time. Haven't actually seem the standard bulbs anywhere so do you have to switch to H4 Halogen?

You should still be able to get  bulb from any Motorcycle shop,  it was a standard fitting used not just on Honda's and was available in 6 and 12 volt(Don't get the wrong one----yes it will be bright but only for 2 seconds!!)

Thanks Bryan.

Most of the dealers near to me only have brand new bikes 'on the shelf' so to speak and look at you with a worried expression if you imply you are going to actually touch your bike yourself!  :o thankfully there is one 'proper' old fashioned bike shop in Southend, I will pop in there when I get a chance.

any car accessory shop would have these, the part numbers are fairly standard, 410 for non halogen, r12 for halogen version. the later halogen type with three locating tags is part no 472 again easily obtained
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration
