Requiem
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:38:02 AM »
We all know that the SOHC 4 started in 1969, initially in the States, but who remembers that also in 1969 Man made his first step onto a different planet, also from the States.

Neil Armstong will be buried today in Cincinnati after passing away last Saturday in his 80's and the good old US of A seems to have totally ignored it.

I watched it on a grainy black and white TV and am still astounded by the engineering and adventure of the task

I still have the front page from that day's paper. The Revell and Monogram kits of Gemini and Apollo vehicles have long gone but their lasting legacy for me and a lot others was an inspiration to pursue science and engineering.

It seems that inspiration has passed from Apollo XI to X Factor these days.
