Did mine with a 20 quid ultrasonic cleaner from Aldi's and US Carbclean bought off E-bay. Then laid into them with a toothbrush and Solvol Autosol. Shinier than a shiny thing.

Lesterpiglet, here's a link to the same one I used:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-HIGH-FREQUENCY-ULTRASONIC-CLEANER-JEWELLERY-DVDS-MATALWARE-ETC-WOW-/160886040559?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_JewelleryBoxes_Supplies_CA&hash=item25758e27ef#ht_500wt_1203

CB750stu, yes you do have to strip the carbs completely. It's no big deal really, all you need is a good quality philips screwdriver and a couple of sockets. Best to take loads of photo's to see how to re-build them and do one carb at a time so as not to mix up all the parts. The down side of the ultrasonic cleaner is 1) it only runs for about 4 minutes so you have to be there to keep turning it on and 2) the main carb bodies won't fully submerge in such a small tank so you have to do one half then turn it over to do the other side. I found that the carb parts were all fully servicable except for a couple of O rings and they were in a shed for 30 years.
