Hi all,
Recently sold my Four of 22 years ownership, amongst all the spares I had accumulated was a drilled front disc? This fetched good money on ebay, two weeks later I had an email form a chap asking if the disc was still for sale? Nope, sorry sold.
Ah...
Did it actually work any better?
Nope, didnt make a habit of riding my Four in the wet anyways, in the dry it was still very "challenged", a thick hard stainless disc with one barely adequate at best single piston caliper not being a match for modern traffic and their Proper Stoppers.
But - this did work.
Copied off a wavy-style Yam R1 cast iron racing disc, this gave very good wet weather stopping power, lightened up a very heavy disc and got the disc up to working temp very quickly! At LAST, a good front brake! Various mods meant the bike was now faster than its frame and brakes, an improvement was gratefully received!
Could I do this to his disc?
Mmmmm let me get back to you with a price....
A price was agreed, and a few days later a disc arrived for me he'd bought online and sent straight to me - I went to work.

All good! Mine passed its MOT for the last three years with no drama's, was always a good conversation point!
