Carb disasembly advice
« on: November 28, 2012, 05:33:22 PM »
I've had the carb cleaned and rebuilt so I'm now just tidying up there cosmetics.

I'm having troubvle with the bar that connects all 4 carbs and has the mount that the cables go to,I can't remove it.
I've removed the pinch bolts on either end and the 2 bolts that support the cable mount in the middle but it won't budge.
The only thing that is holding it now is the 2 cast leg supports which i presume have some sort of bearing in them.

I've had a look at the pdf manual but it doesn't mention that.Any suggestions or point me in the right direction?

There is a key in the cast arms and they are fragile, unless there is an imperative reason for removal i would leave them alone

The connecting bar is very pitted and rusty so I wanted to clean it up.

I saw the two keys when trying to disassemble it,is that all thats holding it together?

Well I got them all apart ok ;D
In one of the arms there is 3mm pin that is pressed in at the factory to stop the main rod moving laterally,I drilled it out and it came apart a treat.I'll replace it with a dog point grub screw once all the paint has hardened properly.
Sounds a bit overkill but they really where in a bad way,I'll post some pics in my build thread at the end of the week when there re assembled.
