cb750 front axle nuts
« on: November 29, 2012, 01:54:52 PM »
Hi Guys
May have this wrong but I have got it in my head that the 4 nuts that hold the front axle caps were 8m and 12 m spanner size and were also shiny/Today I ordered 4 new ones part 9403008000 and they are dark coloured and 14 m spanner size.Is this the norm I was convinced they should be 12 and shiny.
Cheers

No, 14mm is the correct size, I expect they are a different colour due to the part number being superseded to a later part.

I too was convinced that they were 12 mm spanner size and plated, but then again Honda did use some different sizes, M8 is normally 13 mm head size but Honda did things differently.
In the F1 parts manual the nuts are 94030-08000 NUT, HEX., 8MM.

Cheers

Yo Spitfire
Yeah today 8 mm nuts are 13 mm spanner size but I do not remember in the tool pouch a 13 mm spanner it was a double open ended 12 and 14 no 13 if I remember right.Who knows what else they changed in all these years.Maybe some of the older than me boys can enlighten me.
Anyway
cheers

13 mm spanner size is the everywhere in the world except Japan spanner size for 8mm thread because 13mm was originaly a "Non Prefered" spanner size and the Japanese stuck to the rules!!! But 13 is also damn near the 1/2 inch AF  size that the Yanks like so it became the "Norm"
