Right hand switch gear
« on: December 13, 2012, 09:01:22 PM »
I'm trying to find a way of keeping the original ally right hand switch gear rather than change it for a plastic one.

The problem is I'm missing the front plastic knob and the top rotary dial is in terrible state.
Although the top is seized I should be able to free that once it's off the bars.
Is there any sources you know of that can help me out with a repair or spares?
I see on ebay theres loads of plastic ones that look the same but or for small cc models,I was wondering how interchangable they where or even if I could strip a new one for spare.

Depends on what exactly your switch does as the official UK one is different to the rest of the world. Can you post a picture or desribe exactly what markings are on the light switch

That looks identical to the one on my CB750F1, which is also the same as the CB400F, they are still available from DSS and a few dealers on E-Bay, around £45-60 new, but there are many used one around too ;D
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

This is the one from a Honda catalogue for a CB750K5

...& a CB550F1

...& a CB400F

So the internals should be quite easily swapped across from the switches of these models into the early CB500K alloy finish housing

Thanks for the help.
I had the switch apart yesterday and someone has made a right meal of it.
The top part has been araldited on and the contact is missing and the selector spring and stud are missing from the light lever.
