CB550 PAINT

Hi all,
New to the UK forum but been on the US one for some time.
I have recently finished the restoration of a CB400 4 F1 and moved onto my latest restoration a 78 CB550 K3 (77 model by the frame/engine No's). I am looking for any information on the paint (Excel Black) I believe, has anyone found a match for this if so have you got a paint code.

Try RS paints, used to be in Barnsley but i believe the moved south

RS have phoned me today and they don't do it any other suggestions.

I have a set of pannels off a 78 550k3 that was black, originally came with Honda transfers on the tank and stickers on sidepannels with 'supplied by' stickers from a dealer in little leaver, Bolton. I'm doubtfull as to it being a respray so I think black was an original coulor.

Log book states black but that could have been changed but as far as I am aware these are the Honda details

1977 CB550 K3
Engine#: CB550E-2000001-
Frame#: CB550-2000007-
Colors: Excel Black
Remarks: tank stripe red w/gold; gold side cover emblem, "550 Four K"

They did exist in black, back in 1978 I had a Black K3.

On returning to the K3 ownership I found myself with the Brown version, but I kept hankering back for a black one ('my first love', as they say...)
- I couldn't find a code for Excel Black either, but I came across a guy near Cirencester who did me a fine spray job, including some excellent hand painted pinstripes instead of tank decals.
