CB550 K3 SWITCH GEAR
« on: April 03, 2013, 12:54:12 PM »
Hi All,

As the switchgear for the K3 is discontinued and virtually impossible to get hold of can anyone confirm that this is the same as the 400/4 except the connectors on the end.
These are quite easily obtainable and should be quite easy to convert, just not sure if everything else is the same.

Thanks

It IS the same, bar as you say the connectors on the end.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

I may be wrong but doesn't the K3 have a block connector on the end not individual wires as those blocks are not easy to get

You remembered correctly Bryan, if he has the old switchgear plug, new terminals for the plugs are readily available, otherwise he'll have to fit bullet connectors to the bike loom

The switchgear wiring on the CB550K3 was differant to the same switchgear on the CB550F1/F2 because the wiring was external of the handlebars on the K3 whereas it went through a hole & was internal of the bars on the F models. Accordingly, this is why the K3 had the connector block as against bullet connectors on the F models.
