CB400F2 Tank Decal positioning
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:01:57 AM »
Hi all,
Can anyone advise me whether the positioning of the 'HONDA' decal is the same for both the F/F1 & F2 models?
Cheers,
Lobo

No idea but just wondering where you got the technical sketches from showing position, as I will have this task ...... eventually!!??

One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

Hiya Tim,

Basically off a great "Cb400F Restoration Project" blog on the Internet throughout 2011/12.  An English project - and sad,y I can't remember the guy's name.

The guy's name is Graham Hugill, the site was an excellent one and a resource for anyone who owns a 400f. Sadly the web site no longer exists

Yes, very good and useful site. Unfortunate that it is no longer accessible. I think it is that it's format was no longer supported rather than that it was taken off the net. The bike that was the subject of the restoration was in Practical Sports Bikes - early last year if I remember correctly.

... can anybody out there with an F2 just nip ot to the garage & confirm basic measurements ??? Please!  (I'm beginning to suspect the measurements way out for the F2)

Don't need to the mm, just a "yup, that fits with the F2" will do.

Don't want to end up with something that looks a bit 'odd', as this job does..

Corrected
Bottom of stripe decal from base of tank 23mm

front of tank to bottom corner of stripe 65mm with tape pulled straight, not following contour.

end of top stripe (rear part were it tapers down) to bottom of tank 139-140mm

Honda decal height from bottom of top decal line 20mm From front of tank to top left of H 145mm with tape pulled straight, RHS top right of A 148mm to front

supersport decal 9mm from bottom of honda decal. with S in line with centre of the O in Honda.

Blimey SP!

That's well beyond the call of duty. Fantastic, thanks very much, a beautiful tank you have there.
