Reg number

Probably a question that has been covered a million times but is there any way that anyone can help me to retrieve a reg number from a frame number alone? Any help appreciated

Don't think you can do it that way joe you would probably have to get an age related plate? cheers Mick.

I've heard with an age related plate the bike has to be made from original parts. I think the only original parts are the frame and engine casings

Ive just got today the reg number from DVLA,i had to get a dating cert from Honda,get the bike insured on the frame number and get it insured on the frame number !! 
I built mine from parts frame/engine/tank all from other places VVVV expensive way of doing it though will never buy a frame without a V5 again Sooooooooo much expense and hassle.
Ive seen a frame on Ebay last night a frame for a F1 starting at £50 with V5

im sure there is some threads on here about this subject (one is mine im sure)

I don't know how they would know what are original parts and what is not ? ,

I to have gone through the process of buying a bike off ebay with no reg number and no papers and with the help of Bryanj on here it was pretty straight forward,

and now I have a tax free cb750  cheers Mick.

Will it being built from mostly new parts make a difference?

I wouldn't have thought so all they are interested in is the frame number, if you go down the route of writing to Honda (that's what I did) they supply you with

a year of manufacture letter which satisfied dvla along with mot on frame number & insure on frame number, then join the que at your local dvla office don't

forget proof of your identity the necessary form or forms and payment, and you should walk out with an age related number and tax and log book in the post

I've never done this so I can't guarantee it's correct, but I've read on other forums that you can do a HPI check on the frame number and it will return the reg number. Then all you need to do is apply for a replacement V5.

  either way they will still charge you thirty quid for a logbook ,the DVLA  is just a cash cow so watch your sorns are up to date aswell

Also if following the insure and mot on the frame number and the certificate from honda if its a cb750 race type replica will this make a difference?

If it was every on a v5 at Swansea they can trace the frame number but won't unless a re reg is applied for or the Plod ask them to

So the case would be a dating letter from honda, mot and insure on frame number when complete then down to the local Dvla office for fingers crossed an age related plate and v5?

Correct but don't get the insurance till the last minute as most firms charge a years premium but will only give you 4 weeks on a frame number and expect you to give them a proper reg

So once a reg is assigned will they allow me to change the insurance over for a full year?
